Baseball

Baseball is one of those great American past times that I never really grew up with. But it is never too late. Though the Twins are not my favorite team, I still enjoy taking in a game every now and then.

The added perk of this game was the Star Wars theme!

Skipping stones

Sunsets in Minnesota are quite nice. Especially when spent at a lake skipping stones. The water was the perfect temperature.

On a related note - skipping stones is hard but apparently there is a science behind it.

Perfectly round and bouncing around
Today it felt like fall.

Home cooked food

Sometimes, when I get super busy - I tend to start eating cereal for dinner. Not that cereal for dinner is bad, I actually quite love it. But besides the point, it doesn't compare to an awesomely prepared meal - which is always worth appreciating. Especially one made that is a collective effort made with friends.

I really enjoyed making sushi tonight. It was the break from work that is much needed. Also a good reminder to not have cereal for dinner each night, to take care of your belly and enjoy.

Happy birthday Roxanne!

Foggy mornings

Off the grid
I hear lake water by the shore, I hear it in the deep heart's core.

I just got back from a camping trip along Lake Superior. What I love most about going to the north shore is the foggy mornings. It just gives this serene feel. And smell of dew and cool air just makes everything just that more perfect

What I like most about camping is that there seems to be this unspoken agreement of not talking on the trail. Everyone is so quite, with only the sounds of your breath and your boots brushing against the grass.

printf("Hello World");

Life is rather short. And at times, I’m not sure I realize how short and precious things are until it is far too late. I only seem to consider this in those ‘it’s too late’ kind of moments.

Recently, I have hit one of those bumps in the road. And I am still in that fog of how sudden things change and am constantly thinking of all the things I should have done or said. How much I would do to turn back time – to say those things, to say thank you and to enjoy those moments. But thinking about all the what if’s --  it doesn’t change the past. However, the past does not define the future and instead of thinking about what could I have done, I want to think about what I can do now.

Someone recently gave me the advice to find all those I care about and make it known how important they are to me. To do this even if they feign indifference, roll their eyes, or laugh at you. And I plan to do just that.

So I’m starting this Little Things Project – place where I can reflect on all the little things that make me insurmountably happy. I’m hoping this project will in some way, make me wait awhile and live in this moment. To appreciate what is here and what is now.

For Karen
This is a photo from earlier this summer - A trip to Afton, Minnesota. I spent the day with teachers learning about geology. This was an opportunity that Karen gave to me. I wish I could thank her for all that she has done and how much I admire her. Keep her in your thoughts and only wish for the best of outcomes.
